Simple monitoring protocol of day butterflies targeted at green space managers (parks, forests, agricultural areas). Butterflies are recognised indicators of habitat quality, in response to habitat disturbance and and climate change. The monitoring of butterflies allows green space managers to account for biodiversity in their practices, by assessing the impact of management practices on the biodiversity in green spaces. It also provides a basis for communicating about biodiversity practices to green space users.

Policy uptake explanation

Adaptation of management practices to increase butterfly diversity (delayed cutting in prairie, types of plants) e.g. in Seine Saint Denis.
