Observatoire Agricole de la Biodiversite (OAB)

The aim of OAB is to improve knoweldge on ordinary biodiversity in farmland, and on the relationship between agricultural practices and biodiversity. It provides monitoring protocols for ordinary biodiversity to interested farmers (currently, four such protocols have been developed, for bees, butterflies, worms and terrestrial invertebrates).

Policy uptake explanation

Biodiversity Agricultural Observatory is led by the Ministry in charge of Agriculture, as part of its commitment to the National Strategy for Biodiversity. This project started in 2009 to respond to a lack of indicators for monitoring the state of biodiversity in agriculture, in relation to the practices that development actors, policy makers and research partners were waiting for. describe the link between agricultural practices and biodiversity.
